Delhi is a city which shows the vast cultural influences of India. In Old Delhi the Red Fort is located. The massive sandstone of the Red Fort walls was built in the 17th century to keep out the invaders. Coming west of the Red Fort the tourists can see Jama Masjid – India’s largest mosque. There are smaller towers at each corner of the mosque. Another incredible sight of the country is a mammoth tower Qutb Minar, which was built to symbolize Islamic rule over Delhi. Raj Ghat will certainly capture the attention of tourists, as it is the cremation site of one of the most important Indian personalities. The official residence of India’s president Rashtrapati Bhawan is also to be visited. Taj Mahal in Agra is a symbol of India. It is one of the wonders of the world. It was built in 1653, and is set in a large walled garden, in front of a long reflective pond.
The Pink City of Jaipur is famous for the magnificent City Palace, located in its center. On the edge of the City Palace complex there is the Palace of the Winds. The five-story building is shaped like a crown. The most sacred of all ghats located in Varanasi is the Manikarnika Ghat. Crowds of people congregate here not only for a ritual bath, but to do yoga, get a massage, buy flowers, or play cricket. Favorite spot for watching the sunset is Marine Drive, situated in Mumbai. Another attraction of the city is Crawford Market. Among the interesting places of India there are Goa, Kerala, Agra and many others.
